Create a Landmark from a Mobile Unit Position

Creating a landmark from a tractor or trailer position is an easy way to add landmarks such as yards and shippers.

Note: You can use a tractor position if you use the QTRACS application, and a trailer position if you use Trailer Tracks. If you use both, all custom landmarks are available in both places.

To create a landmark from a tractor position

  1. Click Vehicles to open the Vehicle Directory.
  2. Locate the vehicle whose position you want to save as a landmark and click to select it.

The map zooms to its current location and its details appear below the map.

  3. To view its position history, click Go to position history below the details on the right.
  4. Click the position where you want to create a landmark. Position details appear in a pop-up bubble on the map.
  5. Click save as landmark.

The landmark list opens with a popup window where the latitude/longitude coordinates are entered.

  6. Select the landmark type from the drop-down list.
  7. Click Submit.
  8. Adjust the size and shape of the landmark and type the remaining landmark information. Fields marked with red * are required.
  9. Click save and continue if you want to enter more information about the landmark.

Enter attribute information in the tabs that appear. None of the information is required.

  10. When you are finished entering landmark information, click save.
