Integrating with the HOS Web Services

A dispatch system accesses HOS information via a secure connection with Qualcomm's NMC based on account information provided in the SOAP header. Information in this header allows programs to securely connect with HOS Web Services.

HOS Web Services can be used to integrate a dispatch application with the HOS application using a direct Hypertext Transport Protocol Secure (HTTPS) connection, as shown here:

Front-end PC/Windows® computers can use HTTPS to transfer data to HOS Web Services. If HTTPS is not available from an AS/400 or other host operating system, any available mechanism such as FTP can be used to transfer data from the mainframe computer to the Windows® computer, as shown here:

Dispatch systems can both import data to and export data from the HOS system. Import data includes new and updated driver information, trailer ID and load and unload times, and vehicle alias and tractor ID information. Export data includes driver on- and off-duty statuses and hours spent driving calculations.

Programs can import and export information for single or multiple drivers, loads, and vehicles within a single call to the web service. These methods are identified in HOS Web Services North America API.
