Feature Enhancements - AMG-C
This release includes feature enhancements designed to improve understanding for installers or drivers on the current state or status of the AMG-C unit in order to avoid confusion as to when a tablet is ready to pair with the AMG-C unit.
Minimum Supported Operating System
The minimum supported operating system for the AMG-C is version 2.17.
AMG-C Boot-Up LED Indicator
Prior to 3.0.80, when the AMG-C is booting up the front-facing Status LED indicator (the bottom of the two lights on the front of the unit) would show a steady, solid Cyan color. This color is very similar in hue to the “Ready-to-Pair” solid Blue color and was causing confusion in the field as to the actual state of the AMG-C unit.
To solve this issue, in 3.0.80 this behavior has been changed to a blinking Orange color. When the AMG-C unit is in a boot-up mode this blinking Orange indicator will remain active until the boot-up process has been completed.
AMG-C Ready-to-Pair LED Indicator
Prior to 3.0.80, the front-facing Status LED indicator (the bottom of the two lights on the front of the unit) would be a solid Blue color indicating the AMG-C was ready for a tablet to pair with it.
However, during the initial install of an AMG-C unit, there is a period of time whereby the AMG-C unit needs to communicate with the Omnitracs One platform to configure the device based on customer information and configuration preferences. While it is in this state, if a tablet is attempting to pair it will be unsuccessful and thus give the impression that the AMG-C unit is not functional.
To address this, the Ready-to-Pair process now includes a blinking Blue indicator during the period of time it takes for the AMG-C unit to configure itself with information supplied by the Omnitracs One platform. Once the information has been persisted to the AMG-C, and once the AMG-C confirms that the device is healthy, the vehicle is not in motion, and there isn’t a tablet already paired with it, the indicator will change to a solid Blue color.
Satellite Support
Satellite connection is now supported with firmware version 3.0.80.
Please note the following when connecting via satellite:
- When in satellite positions are sent at reduced frequency (e.g. 15 minutes)
- Driver messaging and Drive workflow will pass over satellite, but large attachments like pictures will wait until returning to cellular coverage
- Forward messaging (defined as message from fleet to vehicle) may experience additional delays of up to 15 minutes. You can always check for these by sending a return message or syncing DRIVE
The following icons will display in the DRIVE mobile application to indicate the current AMG-C satellite connection status:
Icon | Description |
---|---|
Indicates there is no satellite connection. | |
Indicates the AMG-C is connected using a satellite connection. | |
The warning icon indicates an access token is required and the driver needs to log back in using a cellular connection. |
