Roles and Capabilities in the Customer Portal

Capabilities are things users can do or see within the customer portal. Capabilities can be assigned to individuals or grouped together in roles so that those collections of capabilities can be reused.

Capabilities

Activations - All Submit new and replacement unit activation requests for in-field activations
Activations - View View unit activation history
Affiliated Company Grant users access to affiliated company
Configure Omnitracs Services Access and use company's services network, configure wireless networks and browser favorites, configure document types for the in-cab scanning application, configure state miles reporting intervals, and configure screen lock timeout interval
Contracts - All Accept on-line contracts for hardware and services and access the contracts customer dashboard
Contracts - View View accepted on-line contracts
Customer Portal Invitations (Company Admin-Only) Invite a new user from your company to join the Customer Portal. (Generates an email to your company's administrator with instructions on how to grant additional capabilities.)
Finance (Invoices) View hardware and message invoice information and request invoices
Fleet Profile List all unit addresses in your fleet
Fleet Reductions/Reactivations - All View fleet reduction and reactivation history and submit new fleet reduction and reactivations requests
Fleet Reductions/Reactivations - View View fleet reduction and reactivations history
Health Check Run health checks on your units
Manage Applications - All View operational profiles; add/delete operational profiles; transfer units to/from operational profiles; purchase MCP applications; and evaluate applications
Manage Applications - Limited Find an MCP unit in an operational profile and transfer MCP units between operational profiles
Maps Access and use premium Wi-Fi map; map a unit's location using latitude/longitude; and view service center locations
MCP Unlock/Reset Perform mobile resets, generate mobile reset reports, and request temporary passwords for screen unlocks
Modify Customer Portal to Service Portal Connect Ability to link Service Portal user account
Orders - All Accept agreements for hardware and plans while placing orders and search order history
Orders - Limited Purchase Order hardware already under contract; search order history
Orders - View Browse the hardware catalog and search order history
Returns - All Request hardware returns and replacements (if applicable), and access history and warranty searches
Returns - View View return history and unit warranties
Roles/Capabilities - View View user roles and capabilities
Roles - All Create roles and add/remove capabilities from that role (not applicable to Omnitracs-created roles)
Roles - Grant To Users Grant roles to users
Support Cases Access and create support cases
Support Portal Access and use common functions in the support portal including the answer center
Transfers - All Submit and view NMC to NMC transfers and to initiate/accept transfers between your company and another
Transfers - View View NMC to NMC transfers and transfers from your company to another

Roles

Buyer-Basic (Base) Access health check and service options (maps, answer center, tools/firmware/software via Support); create RMAs; and order items already under contract
Buyer-Full (Base) Access health check and service options (maps, answer center, tools/firmware/software via Support); create RMAs; order items already under contract; accept new plan, service, and hardware agreements; and invite a colleague to the Customer Portal
Contracts (Base) View bills, product catalog, fleet profile; print invoices; search warranty, returns/orders; view and approve all contracts/agreements; and administer operational profiles and applications
Company Administrator (Base) All functions on the Customer Portal site. Includes administration: grant capabilities, roles; create custom roles; manage company information; create and manage users within the company; and modify the connection between your Customer Portal account and Services Portal accounts
Finance (Base) View bills, product catalog, fleet profile, contracts; print invoices; and search warranty and return/order history
General User 1 (Base) Access health check and service options (maps, answer center, tools/firmware/software via Support)
Operations-Basic (Base) Access health check and service options (maps, answer center, tools/firmware/software via Support), access fleet profile; view RMA history, order history, transfer history, activation history, and fleet reduction/reactivation history
Operations-Mid (Base) Access health check and service options (maps, answer center, tools/firmware/software via Support), access fleet profile; submit RMAs; order products already under contract; administer operational profiles; initiate and accept transfers; submit activation requests; submit fleet reduction/reactivation requests; and perform MCP unlock/resets
Operations-Full (Base) Includes all functions of Operations - Mid (Base) plus: order all products; accept new plan, service, and hardware agreements
Returns (Base) Access health check and service options (maps, answer center, tools/firmware/software via Support); create RMAs; and access activation history
