Introduction

This document describes the new or modified features of software version AA1315R for the mobile application server (MAS).

Hardware Requirements

The software version AA1315R release supports MCN CA90-J9937-10 and higher.

Software Dependencies

The software version AA1315R is composed of the following software:

  • PAPI:  PAPI.200.12.50
  • VIOP:  VIOP.200.12.51
  • NaviGo™ (Telogis®): V5.1.49
  • CoPilot® Truck™ (ALK):  9.20.2216

Upgrade Procedures

Most upgrades are done over-the-air. If a memory stick upgrade is required, see the Firmware section of the Customer Portal (or iQSC for Service Centers) for download and documentation. You must use Unified OS installer to install BIOS 25 on the units.

Compatibility

Compatibility with Windows XPE Operating System builds un0127, un0129, and un0130.

New Features

Navigation — NaviGo™ (Telogis®)

NaviGo has been updated from 5.1 to 5.1.49.

New buttons have been added to the application so that when the users preview a route in order to view a full list of directions, they can either scroll through the list one step at a time or jump to the first or last step.

Hours of Service (HOS)

  • The Canadian Rules Engine was overhauled to correct numerous issues.
  • New driver alerts and messages for off duty, off duty deferral, and paired sleeper rules. Messages appear as alerts and as text on the Change Status screen.

General Enhancement

To ensure that a driver, whose 8 hours off duty crosses midnight, meets the off duty rules for the previous day after a reset, the driver’s MOT clock will be negative, letting him know he must continue to stay off long enough to get 2 hours for the prior day. The MOT clock will then count up and normal clocks are restored to 10 hours.

  • Under appropriate circumstances, when the driver goes off duty, he will be told when he can come back on duty.
  • When the driver goes off-duty on day 2 of the deferral, he is told when to come back to get the 8+ deferral time.

Summary Tab

  • Based on the Day Off Clock, the Day off remaining hours shows at the bottom of the screen:
  • Off Duty Today now displays the total off duty time taken today. For drivers running under Canadian Main rules, the amount of off duty time taken outside of a reset is also displayed in parentheses.  Note that the time taken outside of a reset counts towards the additional 2 hour off duty requirement for drivers running Canadian Main rules, but is not required for drivers running under Canadian North rules.
  • In addition to driving clocks, the MOT clock now counts down until the driver must go off-duty to meet the off-duty rules.
  • The driver now gets warnings when he must go off-duty. If the MOT clock is driven by off-duty clocks and the driver is driving, the driver will only get the off-duty warning and not the driving warning. See section on Alerts for examples.

Clocks Tab

  • Day Off Remaining Clock displays:
  • Will Pair SB checkbox, when checked, allows Canadian driver clocks to display time based on a paired sleeper berth when applicable.
    • When it is checked qualified sleeper segments (greater than 2 hours for a single driver or 4 hours for a team driver) are removed from the driver’s logs, displaying what is referred to as the “optimistic clock”.
  • Previously, HOS displayed driver clocks assumed that a driver would not get a future sleeper pairing (displaying for the driver the pessimistic shift clock).
  • Drivers who knew they would have a future sleeper pairing needed to know how long they can drive.
  • Now, the driver has the ability to tell the system if he intends to pair a sleeper in the future or not using a check box on the clocks tab.
  • Each time the driver logs in, the check box is set to the value last used on that particular mobile. Note: The check box on the mobile has no impact on how the web application (host) users view this driver’s clocks.
  • After a shift reset, the HOS pessimistic clock shows, even if driver checks the Will SB checkbox because before first SB, there is nothing to pair and the Pessimistic/Optimistic clock is the same. After a shift reset or 2nd SB, we assume they will always pair SB until the next reset.
  • If the driver is using US rules, he will use the last selected value for the clocks screen’s Canadian values.

Status and Info Tab

  • When the Off-Duty Deferral (ODD) exception is selected, these tabs display the day of the deferral the driver is currently on:
    • ODD (Day 1): Driver is on the first day of an Off-Duty Deferral.
    • ODD (Day 2): Driver is on the second day of an Off-Duty Deferral.

Critical Event Reporting (CER)

The CER ABS feature has been implemented. The feature reports during hard braking events when the vehicle ABS is engaged and present on the CAN/J1939 bus.

Fixes/Enhancements

Navigation – ALK CoPilot

  • Previously when using the Virtual Keyboad, ALK applications would not come to the front of the screen even though they were running in the background. This has been fixed.
  • When CoPilot was launched from the Workflow Trip Plan navigation button, a route based on the address from the Workflow Trip Plan was not generated in the CoPilot application. This has been fixed.
  • Nav ALK Auto Lauch—Previously the Disclaimer window was being overlapped by the Nav ALK Auto Launch feature after each reboot. This has been fixed.
  • Previously, ALK map installations would fail when the MCP was enabled for ALK RouteSync (CDEF 391). The MCP would reboots when the USB stick was detected, but the installation did not proceed after the reboot.
  • CoPilot RouteSync—Previously during a RouteSync route with multiple stops, if the MCP was reset before all stops were completed, CoPilot would not remember the completed stops and would route the driver to the first stop in the route. This has been fixed.
  • Copilot was ignoring a new Dispatch Route if it already had a Dispatch Route. The new dispatch route would only process correctly when the original request was cleared. This has been fixed.
  • The New Dispatch Address was not always generated in the application. This has been fixed.

Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM)

High Temp and Fast Leak Throttle were not being applied. Alert Manager was reporting all tire alerts in the defined throttle window. This has been fixed.

Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS)

  • Previously while playing a MMS video file, the file would become stuck after a few seconds while the audio was still playing. This has been resolved.
  • Previously the cost for MMS/FTS to make a terrestrial connection was 20. The cost has been increased to 60 ensuring MMS/FTS can still make terrestrial connections.
  • The MMS audio files would not play when TTS was disabled. This has been fixed.

Vehicle Diagnostics

  • Previously, the Switched Battery Voltage was not displayed correctly in Vehicle Diagnostics. This has been fixed.
  • Vehicle Diagnostics was generating excessive messaging for some accounts. This has been resolved.
  • Fixed battery voltage was not displaying correctly. This has been fixed.

Exact Fuel

Some units experienced an NV reset which caused missing Enable/Disable data for the Exact Fuel application. ApplicationDoInitialization() did not catch an exception that occurred causing the system to reboot. This has been fixed.

Mobile

  • Previously when the Screen Lock icon was selected the second driver was not displayed in the dropdown list. This has been fixed.
  • When the distance units on the mobile were changed from Miles to Kilometers, the Day Log tab still showed the distance to city/towns in Miles. This has been fixed.
  • Fault integrity issues resulted in improper behavior or no filters were added. This has been fixed.
  • Previously mobile units kept rebooting due to a corrupted Workflow template file that caused the exception. This has been fixed.

Communication

The communication details UI did not display Canadian technology capability. It now displays this detail.

Navigation— NaviGo™ (Telogis®)

Pop-up messages indicating an incoming dispatch were difficult to dismiss. Pressing OK would not clear the pop-up message so the application could be properly used. This has been resolved.

Performance Monitoring (PM)

PM data was assigned to the incorrect driver due to an incorrectly assigned password to PM records. This has been fixed.

Canadian Conversion—GSM

Switched Canada Split Sleeper alert clock from Pessimistic to Optimistic to avoid issues with the Canadian market.

WorkFlow

Previously the Workflow file driverworkflow_state.rs was incorrectly validating with 0 rows of data. A validation check was added to ensure the record doesn't have zero rows. Workflow file corruption has been resolved.

Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR)

  • DVIR—Previously, the space character was enabling the "Done" button for the second page of the Trailer Inspection Form within the Trailer ID text box, allowing the form to be processed to the host. This has been resolved.
  • VIR code has been ported from 50 to 200 and merged with the latest release.
  • Previously the VIR button was enabled in HOS while the truck was in motion and only one driver was logged in. This has been resolved.

Text to Speech (TTS)

Previously the mobile driving mode message detail page only read when the Omni button was pressed. The driving mode message detail page now reads whenever it is activated.

Other

Previously the Trailer ABS application accepted and displayed invalid VIN characters. This has been fixed.

Known Issues

Due to the different release schedules for our MCP50, MCP100, MCP110, and MCP200 mobile releases and the next HOS web application (host) release, the possibility exists that the HOS clock may differ between the web application and mobile for our Canadian customers. This is a known issue and was resolved when the HOS web application (host) was released in June 2015.
