Volvo – Mack 2019/2020 trucks:
A RP1226 connector is installed only when requested – not standard in their new trucks. When installed, the RP1226 connected is located near the fuse panel at the top, center of the dash. Volvo also offers a prewire for the IVG (e.g. COMPKxxx). This kit includes the IVG Power I/O cable that is left on the floor on the passenger side that connects directly to the back of the IVG. There is not a prewire kit for the XRS Relay, but Volvo offers a short harness to retrofit a RP1226 connector into a new truck (e.g. Volvo part 2329591x).
Volvo is still working out some kinks with their data links. The RP1226 and recommended J1939 connections should go to a “DL5” data link per Volvo. However, DL5 often doesn’t provide Fuel and Engine Hours, both are required for ELD applications. Further, Volvo states connecting at a location other than the DL5 data link, like the main OBDII diag connector, will void the truck’s electrical warranty. We continue to work with Volvo to get clarification.
