Managing Pending Autonomous Optimization Suggestions
Note: Some of the options described are purchasable and may not appear. Contact your Omnitracs sales representative for more information about acquiring additional features.
You may find that there are times when your route sequence ends up jumbled and inefficient or that you have unassigned orders that need to be added to a route. Whether circumstances change due to rush hour or driver error, you can have your routes analyzed automatically and changes suggested, to keep everything on time. Autonomous Optimization is enabled for an entire region and allows you to determine if your routes will be evaluated throughout the day and re-sequenced automatically and if orders will be placed on routes automatically throughout the day or if the dispatcher or driver need to approve suggestions before changes are made.
In order to use autonomous optimization you must enable it. For more information about enabling autonomous optimization for a region see Region Settings: Autonomous Optimization. Once enabled for the region, you must turn on Autonomous Dispatch for individual routes. Fleetview allows you to easily manage which routes will or will not be optimized by autonomous optimization and to quickly see if a route has been optimized.
Routes that have been optimized will display the autonomous dispatch icon on the route card and map view and in grid view, information will be included in the autonomous dispatch columns. When autonomous dispatch is disabled for a route the icon will be transparent. If your region settings require that optimizations be approved by the dispatcher, the icon on the card displays red when a pending suggestion exists for the route. The icon is black if the route is eligible for at least one mode of optimization, but there is no pending suggestion, and gray if the route is not eligible for either mode of optimization.
Notes: You can sort your routes in Fleetview according to which routes need attention. Click the sort arrow and choose Autonomous Dispatch Needs Attention.
If you hover over a red icon, a tooltip will appear that will show the current optimization states of that route.
Based on region settings, suggestions may need to be approved by the worker or the dispatcher. Workers can reject route suggestions or disable autonomous dispatching for the entire route on their mobile device. Dispatchers use the Pending Route Optimization Suggestions window in Fleetview, to approve or reject suggestions.
When there are routes with suggestions that need attention by the dispatcher, a number displays beside the Autonomous Dispatch icon at the top of the page in Fleetview. The number represents how many routes have suggestions waiting for the dispatcher's approval.
To manage pending suggestions in Fleetview, do the following.
- When viewing Route Cards, the Map view, the Grid view, or Route Details, click the red Autonomous Dispatch icon at the top of the page. The Pending Route Optimization Suggestions window displays with a list of routes with suggestions.
- Review the information for previous and new costs, distances, times, and missed time windows for each route by scrolling through the columns.
- Place a check in the box next to a route that you want to manage.
- Review the order placement description or stop resequencing suggestions, along with the summarized comparison of Previous Values, New Values, and the Differences in the Details panel of the window.
Note: To see how suggestions affect a group of routes, check the boxes besides the routes you want to manage as a group. The summarized values and differences of the group display in the Details panel.
- Click [Accept Selected Suggestions] to change the route as the optimization suggests.
or
Click [Reject Selected Suggestions] to leave the route as it currently exists. If there are existing Route Optimization Rejection Reason Codes available, you are required to select a reason code from the list that displays.
Notes: You can accept or reject multiple routes at the same time. Check the box beside each route you want to manage and then choose to accept or reject those routes.
See Setting up Rejection Reason Codes for Route Optimization for information on adding rejection reason codes.
- Click [Close] to close the Pending Route Optimization Suggestions window.
If a route suggestion expires before it is accepted or rejected, the Autonomous Dispatch icon no longer displays red and the Suggestion Status, seen on the Optimization tab in Route Details for that route, is assigned a status of Dispatcher No Response.
