Asset Types
Asset types are the types of equipment you use in your operation. Drive comes with six default asset types:
USA_VEHICLE
USA_TRAILER
CANADA_VEHICLE
CANADA_TRAILER
QUEBEC_VEHICLE
QUEBEC_TRAILER
You can not delete these asset types, but you can change them.
Note: If you need to create additional asset types, you must use one of these types, but pre-pend a descriptor to the beginning of the name. For instance, to create an additional trailer, you could clone USA_TRAILER and name it NEW_USA_TRAILER.
To change an existing asset type, follow the steps below.
- Click the Edit icon next to the type. The Edit Asset Type window opens.
- Check Ask for Mileage to prompt the driver to enter the odometer reading when performing the inspection.
- Check View Previous Inspection to have allow the driver to see the results of the previous inspection.
- Enter the proper text in the Not Safe for Operation Message. This is the text the driver will see if the inspection deems the equipment is not safe to operate.
- Click the [Save] button.
To add an asset type, follow the steps below.
- Click the [Add Asset Type] button. The Add Asset Type window opens.
- If you want to clone an existing asset type, check Clone inspections from existing asset type. Enter the asset name and asset description in the proper fields below.
- Check Ask for Mileage to prompt the driver to enter the odometer reading when performing the inspection.
- Check View Previous Inspection to have allow the driver to see the results of the previous inspection.
- Enter the proper text in the Not Safe for Operation Message. This is the text the driver will see if the inspection deems the equipment is not safe to operate.
- Click the [Save] button. If you want to add another asset type, click the [Save +] button.
If you added an asset type, go to Inspection Points to define the inspections for the new asset type.
