Adding HOS Log Events in Omnitracs
Adding HOS Log Event Using Omnitracs XRS Mobile
1. From the Log Editor screen, select the +Event button.

The Select Event to Add screen appears.
2. Select one of the following events:
Adding a Duty Status
1. Fill in the fields as outlined for editing an Event. In the timeline header at the top of the screen, inserted and added events appear in blue as soon as you fill in values for the Start time and Duty Status fields. You can add any of the following Duty Statuses:
- On Duty
- Off Duty
- Sleeper Berth
- Drive
Note: You will not be allowed to enter an event that shortens or deletes a Drive segment.
In the example that follows, the driver is adding a Drive segment between an On Duty and Off Duty Status. The proposed added drive segment appears as a blue box.
2. Enter values for Location and Add Comment, both required fields.
Note: Selecting Cancel at any point on the Add Duty Status screen will return you to the Log Editor screen, with no saved changes.
3. When you are finished filling out the fields in the Add Duty Status screen, select Save. The Log Editor screen appears. Your edits will appear in green, both in the Log Graph and the Event List. Note the presence of the pencil icon next to the potential edit—you can still return to the Add Duty Status screen to edit the event further by selecting the pencil icon.

4. Select Save. The Violation Changes screen appears, alerting you to any potential HOS violations that occurred as a result of your edit.
5. If you select Cancel at this point in the Log Editor screen, the Cancel Edits screen will appear to confirm that you want to cancel your changes. If you select Yes to cancel
your edits, no changes will be made and the standard HOS Log screen will appear. If you select No, you will return to the Log Editor screen and the pending edits will still be green.
6. Select Continue in the Violation Changes screen. The HOS Log screen appears and your changes will be committed. Your edits will now appear in blue in the Log Graph. In the Events list they will now be indistinguishable from previous entries.
Note: If you select Cancel from the Violation Changes screen, you will return to the Log Editor screen and your proposed changes will still appear in green, both in the Events List and the Log Graph.
7. If necessary, certify your logs for the day.

Reassigned Drive Time
Although automatically recorded drive time cannot be shortened or deleted, host users can reassign it from a primary driver to a co-driver. When drive time is reassigned, both drivers must confirm or reject the change. In addition:
- If drive time has been reassigned from a primary driver to a co-driver and the co-driver has not yet accepted the changes, the primary driver cannot modify any of the events that have not yet been accepted. The app displays a message that says “Reassigned events are awaiting approval from the other driver and cannot be edited.”
- Log events that have not yet been confirmed by the second driver will not be included in HOS calculations.
- Events still awaiting confirmation by the second driver will not be included in the driver log when Inspection Mode is turned off. When Inspection Mode is turned on, those events will appear as pending events.
When drive time is reassigned from one driver to another in the host, the following happens on the mobile:
- Drivers must accept or reject all edits associated with the reassignment at the same time, even though they are displayed as individual events. When the driver selects Confirm or Reject for any event, a message appears: “Drive time is being reassigned. All associated events must be accepted or rejected as a group.” When the driver selects OK, the associated events are all updated as either confirmed or rejected, depending on the driver’s selection. Carrier edits that are not part of the drive time reassignment can be confirmed or rejected separately.
- When one driver accepts the reassigned events, the edits remain as pending edits in that driver’s log until the other driver accepts the reassignment.
